Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How can I get started?

Give us a call!  We will be more then happy to get the prop spinning on your start to aviation. We can schedule you a Discovery Flight as early as the next day and, on occasion, the same day.

What does it take to get a pilot's license?

Obtaining a private pilot certificate requires, under part 61 of the Federal Aviation Regulations, 40 minimum hours of flight time. Within those 40 hours, a multitude of things must be met including cross country flight time, night flying, solo flying, training, an FAA written exam, as well as an oral and practical exam with an FAA examiner. For more information visit the FAA's official web page as well as AOPA's Let's Go Flying!

Are introductory or "discovery" flights exempt from the requirements of the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) rule to verify citizenship and residency?

Yes. TSA has stated through correspondence with AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) that introductory, discovery or demonstration flights are exempt from the requirements of the TSA rule. However, AOPA suggests that you not log the flight time in a logbook until the CFI can verify citizenship.

Are there any additional fees added to the rental rate of the aircraft?

Sales taxes and fuel surcharges. Our fuel surcharge fluctuates with the rising, and lowering cost of fuel. All training flights/ground lessons that include an instructor will have the instructor cost ($45/hr) added. If paying by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc...) a 4% merchant transaction fee will be added to your invoice; this fee is higher for AMEX customers. To avoid this fee you may pay by cash, check, or debit card in lieu of credit cards.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes, we sell gift certificates for any amount that you desire. They may be used for any item we sell, or any services that we offer. This includes Discovery Flights, ground lessons, pilot apparel, or just a single flight if you so choose. Give us a call and we will set you up with a gift certificate!
